I have a 1993 ford taurus 3.8L V6 automatic GL 4dr. sedan. Here lately I have been having trouble when I try to start my car. When I put the key in and turn it to just KOEO the fuel pump powers on but does not power down until way after it is suppose to. It use to take about 30 seconds to power down but now after about a month it won't power down. It just stays on way after I put the key in without me cranking the engine. It has gotten to the point where it won't stop at all. The fuel pump is suppose to power up and then down and should take only a few seconds to do it. Now also when I put the key in and turn it to KOEO the radiator fan comes on and stays on. I can't start my car because it won't start unless the fuel pump powers down and it won't power down. I thought it might be the IRCM which is a relay box that controls the fuel pump and radiator fan. I replaced that but it did not solve the problem. So I am thinking it is the engine computer that is causing the problem but don't know for sure. Anybody think it could be something else?

I think you are on the right track it being a engine controller problem. I ran into a few EEC IV engine controllers that fail that way. You should still check powers and grounds to the controller before condemning though.
