Won't run after timing belt change

2000 Dodge Caravan 3.0 liter V6, 165,000 miles I am completely stuck. I changed my timing belt and water pump in my 2000 Caravan 3.0 liter. Before re-assembly I rotated two turns freely by hand. The crankshaft and camshaft marks (3) were perfect for alignment, belt tension good. When it cranks, I have no spark, and when I stop cranking; the ASD relay sounds like rapid fire on/off (machine gun). Assuming it is electrical, I have since replaced the ignition coil, crank position sensor and tried a recycled ebay main computer (briefly). I have swapped the ASD relay position with other like relays. I also ran a temporary heavy wire from my alt B+ to the battery for a time (fusible link?). Yesterday I took everything apart again to think about timing. Of course the timing marks are as I left them, that looks fine. Can I have the crankshaft off one turn and the 3 marks align -- but the crank off one turn? I truly thought I didn't move with cam sprockets much, but anything is possible. If my valve timing can't be off, I will re-assemble everything and go back to electrical head scratching. Of note, I did use a soldering gun to do repair work on the positive battery cable due to the cable clamp having extreme corrosion. That is what prompted me to replace crank sensor and try a second PCM. (Could the solder action have killed something?). In my garage, it's fix or call the junk yard. Much better body than my neighbor's rusted Caravan....but his runs. Thank you. Lemonpie

Why was the belt changed in the first place? Did it break while driving? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

No. It had a significant oil leak. I owned the car a long time and since 90,000 miles so I went after the front main seal for the oil leak and the timing belt and water pump for maintenance. The oil leak was the front valve cover I believe. Lemonpie

All "crank, no start" conditions are approached in the same way. Every engine requires certain functions to be able to run. Some of these functions rely on specific components to work and some components are part of more than one function so it is important to see the whole picture to be able to conclude anything about what may have failed. Also, these functions can ONLY be tested during the failure. Any other time and they will simply test good because the problem isn't present at the moment. If you approach this in any other way, you are merely guessing and that only serves to replace unnecessary parts and wastes money. Every engine requires spark, fuel and compression to run. That's what we have to look for. These are the basics that need to be tested and will give us the info required to isolate a cause. 1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester. If none found, check for power supply on the + terminal of the coil with the key on. 2) Test for injector pulse using a small bulb called a noid light. If none found, check for power supply at one side of the injector with the key on. 3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off. 4) If all of these things check good, then you would need to do a complete compression test. Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out, you will know which system is having the problem.

So it was running. It had sat idle for a time due to a locked up ignition lock cylinder but I fixed that and started it up and drove into my garage. Lemonpie

Do you think I could have the crankshaft one rotation off (yet all the marks align)? All the marks align, but if I can get confidence that the valve timing is ok, I will re-assemble it. If I re-assemble I will buy the NOID light and so forth. I have never used that. Thank you. Lemonpie

Nope, that's not possible. You need to perform all the testing in that sequence to find the issue.
