Won't start after filling up Sign In

The last two times I got gas, my car wouldn't start. Like it wouldn't even turn over, and there was no power. I got a jump and the AAA guy tested the battery and said it was fine. I brought it in and they found nothing wrong. Happened again yesterday and a guy at the station helped my jump it. After that it started up fine after shutting it down. Anyone ever have anything like this? It's a 2017 Accord, so a pretty new car.

If the car started with a jump start then there is no question that the problem rests with the battery or the connections to it.

Re: Won't start after filling up Sign In

I spoke to a Honda guy who told me that Hondas don't like it when you put in accessory mode, and that was the problem. I tried to protest saying I'd had the car for a while and never had this issue. But is starts every time except those times at the gas station. If it happens again next time (when I don't use accessory mode during filling up), I will make them go and do a thorough diagnostic.

Thanks

I don't see anything to diagnose? don't leave it in accessory mode any more than actually needed which should be almost never. Battery for any reason in this should be original isn't impossible at all to be just too weak to sustain much drain even for that short time. Dump it and quit the bad habit as Honda tech told you,

I have to say, the only way you can kill a battery that quickly is either the battery is no good to start with or you have one of those gigawatt stereos.

It's the standard Honda stereo.

Then the battery is too weak. Any battery should be able to handle the key on for 15 minutes without dieing.

CopyDan: You seem to be relying on what the AAA guy said in a couple minutes didn't have time for a full test after jumping it/you at the scene.
It would show with a LOAD test that it has not guts (AMPS) but can do voltage. So can one for a moped that wouldn't start your car. Follow that? If you don't feel it's old enough for trouble there's no set time for problems new or older just the odds.
Have that one checked for LOAD you'll see it but that's AFTER fully charged by just like your charger then the test.

What folks think too much is most car batteries must be like your gadgets, phones, devices that can go dead flat and come back for years. Not so with almost all used in vehicles.
You can look for a date it was made on it may be older than you think still doesn't matter running them down harms them even if before it was sold new to car maker or along the way.
I hear you they did get pricey over a few years and who wants an expense if wrong about it. IMO it's not a waste at all in fact really find out who has the best quality reputation in your area that matter right out of the gate,

Even load testing is obsolete these days

The most reliable health test these days is Conductance testing.
