i have a 95 chevy baretta, 3.1 liter my trouble is heat will only come out of the vents on the dash, it won't switch to the the floor or most importantly it will not switch on the de-frosters....beeing in wisconsin with some really crappy winters i need to get my de-frosters working..i ckecked under the dash and all of the vacum hoses seem to be on, im not sure about the vaccum hoses under the hood, i'm woundering if the switch could be bad, it is hard to find a heater/ ac selector switch in a junk yard, is there anyway to rig this to get the de-frosters to work ?any help would be appreciated thank you

I don't have diagrams for this but there should be an electric actuator with rods that direct air flow. They can fall off, break, acutuator problem itself or door it turns. If you heat it trying to change it would be more likely what just mentioned. If nothing happens with request the request may not be getting sent to actuator. Not so likely as the home position of most systems is defrost only with any failure unless a broken or disconnected part is involved, T
