Hi guys,I'm a newbie so please advise if I'm not doing this right. My baby is an old 1999 2.4 a6. On starting from cold she's perfect, then 5 min later, the rev counter stops, the oil light and warning light flashes and abs light comes on. The gearbox then loses 1st and 2nd gears and she becomes very sluggish and even manual shifts disappear. She'll remain this way till ice cold, then cycle repeats itself. Problem started when changing battery, idle dropped to 400rpm and slowly degenerated to present state. Can anyone please help before I have to take her to the agents, no-one else seems to be able to help.Thanx Willie t. ***************

You said it started after working on the battery, I'd start there. Make sure those connections are shiny clean and tight. If you have corrosion in there you will get all sorts of weird electrical gremlins. You also need to put a multimeter on this and see what your voltage is while this is happening. You should get your ECM scanned for any trouble codes and post the results here.
