post locked   battery light and burning smell

2002 VX Series 11 Calais 5.7 200,000km

The Alternator was changed 6 months ago and I also have a new battery. This afternoon I parked car in garage and lay down for a nap to be woken by a burning smell. It was coming from garage and there was smoke lingering however I could not locate the origin until I started car this evening and the battery light came on.

Any ideas please

thanks
Philip

Well, if you had visible smoke and a burning smell, i wouldnt have tried to start it.

Sounds like an alternator and / or related wiring concern.

Best bet that i would offer is if you have the capablities, disconnect
the negative cable from the battery ASAP and have it towed to a qualified shop to be properly diagnosed

And make sure you get the vehicle out of the garage in case of fire.
