instructions and tools needed to replace rear wheel bearing 2002 taurus.

Have to know what type of bearing. There is a whole hub type and the inner and outer type possible.

This is a safety issue and we tend to shy away from this. Be careful with this and don't feel bad if you need some pro help. It can take some specialty tools for this, T

Tom,Thanks for reply, I have no idea which brg.Just a high pitch whine type noise from right rear wheel and this is just at one speed.

For now diagnosis is in order. Jack up the wheel and spin in in your hands. Feel for freeplay and listen for the noises. Take it down to brakes and anything that might cause this noise.

It's more likely to be a brake than a bearing but who knows right now. Either could change sounds with brakes applied.

Tough to describe but a bad bearing would usually make a growling sound when you spin the wheel. They should be silent, T
