brake shift interlock Sign In

Sometimes I can not take the car out of park. The manual says to check the brake lights they all work. the fuse is good. any suggestions

The brake light switch IS the control for this and usually the only problem. Make sure it's plugged in properly as I'm about certain it is sensing the brake lights which you said worked so I'm a bit lost if that doesn't work as they all just work and haven't had to go anywhere more than that.

The brake switch is locatedon the downward part of the brake pedal. It will be near where the rod that goes through the firewall is attached. Look at the connection really close. If all shows good, there is a shift lock solenoid on top of the steering column. The dash and steering column needs lowered to access the part.
