Just in general the line to the distributor comes from mid carb. It should show O vac at idle and increase with engine speed. It's powered by venturi effect vacuum not regular engine vacuum. Carbs are extinct here but I grew up with them and worked on tons of them,

CARBIES ARE EXTINCT HERE TOO BUT BUT THE ALTERNATIVES ARE STILL VERY EXPENSIVE. IDA THROTTLE BODIES ARE WORTH A FORTUNE AND IT IS SOUGHT OF NICE MAKING THIS MUCH GRUNT WITH STANDARD GEAR. PLUS OUR NEW LAWS SAY THAT IF IT CAME WITH IT STANDARD IT HAS TO WORK AND HAVE IT OR THEY DONT GIVE YOU PLATES FOR YOUR CAR. THANKYOU FOR YOUR HELP. NEVER REALISED THE ADVANCE HAD NO VACUUM AT IDLE.
