That is just universal procedures. The back three are a nightmare! You decide. Just see if you can get your hand on the boots to remove them from under, over, standing on your head and if you have funky obstruction tools to get at them. Know that difficult plugs are easy to break taking them out or installing new ones.

If like another this in not DIY friendly and sounds stupid for just three difficult plugs but it takes tools and experience to do this properly. Consider new wires as long as you or a shop is there,

Tom,
i'm not being flippant but, I already know it's difficult.
This particular car seems especially hard-I was hopeinging for a step by step to do it,it looks like several things must be removed first-floyd

Tom,
A friend who usually knows what he is talking about said you have to remove the windshield wipers to get at rear plugs ??--windshield wipers--???

Re: change sparkplugs on 01 windstar Sign In

Last Windstar I did was a 95 with the 3.8 which is 99% of them. I only recall it was a nighmare and not the specifics of what I had to do. Couldn't find specifics for this one but bet it's the same. It stinks - I know! I have 100$$ in just tools for plugs! Some you tilt the engine, do from underneath - like I said sarcastically "standing on your head" !! Taurus and Sable were a pest too. The 3.0 engine wasn't so bad. Most "V" engines, transversly mounted (engine in properly but car is sidewaysMad), are a pill.

You need to look as I can't. Perhaps taking wipers off would allow that cowl to be removed and reach down in there. Just getting the wires off and back on can be a nightmare. You simply must be able to give those a twist and straight off pull or the wires get messed up if good and stuck which most are as it gets hot back there!

The wiper arms come off in a second but if that in fact is called for it would be to remove more obstructions.

I think ths is a tough one and the price you were quoted is not shocking,

Just hang in there. One of the techs here may have done one recently and know the most major hurdle in doing this.

I'll just say that if you can't just look and see the obsticles and how you might get access than you are over your head with thisUnsure
