check engine lightg & O2 sensor

Hi, My 2009 Camry check engine light is on. Dealer said the two O2 sensor both are dead and need to replace. After dealer reset the check engine light I have driven two days for 50 miles and the check engine light doesn't come back. If the O2 sensor is bad how long does it take for check engine light on again? Is it possible the check engine report on by mistake since two O2 sensors got bad at the exact same time is really rare. Thanks for help! David

We would need the exact code numbers to be able to tell you anything. It can take a while for the codes to set again but we need to find out if the diagnosis was correct in the first place. The computer doesn't tell you a part is bad. Hi, According to the dealer the code is P0138,P0606 and P1133. Thanks!

P0138 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2) which means you have a rich mixture for some reason, unlikely bad sensor P0606 Engine ECM/PCM Processor Fault bad computer P1133 Air-Fuel Sensor Circuit Response Malfunction needs further testing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Did the dealer replace the O2 sensors? Which engine? If the check engine light hasn't come back on and you been driving for several days, they probably did fix the problem by replacing the sensors. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

The engine is 4 Cylinders E 2.4L. The dealer didn't replace the sensors but just reset the check engine light. Now I get AutoZone to check the code and the only code is P0606. Thanks!

I'd be testing some heater circuits before condemning the engine controller. Seems that code can set if there is some sort of heater transistor issue going on. Transistors could be flaking out because there is a problem in a heater circuit. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

There is a TSB floating around about it: T-SB-0001-10 January 7, 2010 MIL "ON" DTC P0138 and/or P0158 Applicability Introduction Some vehicles may exhibit a MIL "ON" Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0138 and/or P0158 (Oxygen Sensor Circuit High Voltage Bank 1 or 2). In some instances a P2195 or P2197 (A/F Sensor Signal Stuck Lean) DTC may also be present. This condition may be caused by incorrect Air Fuel Ratio Sensor response. Additionally, a P0606 (ECM/PCM Processor) DTC may be present due to incorrect Oxygen Sensor operation. The following repair procedures should be used to properly diagnose and repair this condition. Dealer is probably on the right track if they are following the procedure according to the TSB.
