I have an 86 chevy 1/2 ton and I have removed the four bolts that hold on the driveshaft to the rear diff. It has a 4 inch lift. I can't slide that driveshaft forward at all to break it loose. It is as if the the u joint is frozen in the carrier on the differential. Does anybody have a trick I can use to break this thing loose> I am trying to get it off to do the pinion seal that is leaking. I may just bring it in to the shop. What is a fair price for them to do the seal? thanks.

Can you get a pry bar in there with U bolts loose to get it out? Tape around it so you don't lose the u-joint's bearing caps. Clean that up for reassembly if that stuck now might be rusty in there. I don't know the price of the pinion seal job but it's all labor and a cheap seal, T
