Re: crankshaft sensor Sign In

I believe it is located down low on the passenger side, by the crank pulley.

The crank sensor is located on pass. side behind harmonic balancer. The way to access is by removing right front wheel , then the plastic splash shield. Then you will need to remove belt and harmonic balancer(need puller for this). The sensor is located behind that. You will most likely need a special alignment tool to align new sensor. If not used you will probably be doing the job again because exact alignment is a must. To my knowledge GM dealers are the only ones with this tool. I had same problem w/92 olds acheiva 3.3. Replaced it 2 times myself, trying to get alignment correct. got it very close 2nd time and it lasted about 6 months before the sensor gave out again. If not aligned properly it keeps scraping against inside of harmonic balancer interpreter ring until the plastic and magnets(the sensor) fly apart.Your car stops running immediately and your screwed.
