Driver Information Center (DIC) Display Inoperative Step Action Value(s) Yes No 1 Check the vehicle for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Are any DTCs present? -- Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Engine Controls Go to Step 2 2 Disconnect the driver information display connector Using a J 39200 DMM, probe between the driver information display harness connector terminal 14 and ground. Is the measured voltage within the specified value? 9 - 14 V Go to Step 4 Go to Step 3 3 Repair poor connection, open or short to ground in circuit 640 between the driver information display harness connector terminal 14 and the underhood accessory junction wiring block connector C2 terminal F7 (RADIO fuse). Has the repair been made and the system rechecked? -- System OK -- 4 Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. Using a J 39200 DMM, probe between the driver information display harness connector terminal 7 and ground. Is the measured voltage within the specified value? 9 - 14 V Go to Step 6 Go to Step 5 5 Repair poor connection, open or short to ground in circuit 43 between the driver information display harness connector terminal 7 and and terminal D6 of the MALL/RADIO/DIC fuse in the fuse block. Has the repair been completed and the system rechecked? -- System OK -- 6 Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Using a J 39200 DMM, probe between the driver information display harness connector terminal 8 and ground. Is the measured resistance to ground within the specified value? 0 - 3 ohms Go to Step 8 Go to Step 7 7 Repair poor connection or open in circuit 1550 between the driver information display harness connector terminal 8 and G200. Has the repair been completed and the system rechecked? -- System OK -- 8 Replace the driver information display. Refer to Driver Information Center Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console. Has the repair been made and the system rechecked? -- System OK -- Above is the manual’s repair procedure; below is a bit of a short cut. If the radio & radio memory are working properly that means the fuses are ok (same fuses for the DIC (driver information center) & the radio). Check for power and ground at the DIC connector; terminals 7 & 14 should have battery voltage, terminal 8 (black wire) is ground. If there is power & ground, replace the DIC; if not, start looking for a bad connection or broken wire. Dan. Canadian "EH"
