I have recently, under advise, replace both ignition module and coil, plugs and wires are new, oil has about 700 miles, my problem reaccured today, I drove the whole 1 mile home from work, the truck sat for 10 minutes, and I tried to start it and it tried to start, it fired a couple shots, but hesitated to actually run and shut off, this happens all the time, especially when I drive short distances, I only use this truck to get back and forth to work, just last week I drove it one way 25 miles, got back in it, and it was fine, but when I drive it just a couple miles and get back in it, I have this trouble, it's already cost me a starter......please give me some advice so I won't have to take it to a mechanic, it's a 83 2.8L V6 chevy s10 THANKS mike ichibanmnm@bellsouth.net

Does it lack spark or fuel when it doesn't start? These last few carbed engines were a nightmare. I owned that exact engine in an 84 s-10 and did everything known to it. Fuel pumps just get old, choke pull-offs, choke heater, and vacuum hoses are a problem. Timing chain should just be tossed if you know it hasn't been done yet. Will it respond to starter fluid when it's down? T
