Howdy i have a 1991 toyota camry that was running fine then it died in traffic yest.got it started again and now have what smells like exhaust coming out of the air intake and the engine won't stay running.what might cause this timing belt is one year old give or take a month car has 211,000 miles on it any help please thank you ...

Backfiring through the intake is generally from a cam timing/valve issue. Check the timing belt even though it isn't that old. There are other components (tensioner, idler pulley, water pump) that can damage the belt. Loren SW Washington
