fan not working 05 pontiac wave

Make of vehicle (Ford/ Chevrolet):pontiac
Model of vehicle ( Taurus/ Cavalier):wave
Engine size (2.0/ 5.7):1.6l
Mileage/Kilometers 55000 kms
I drove to work today and my fan would not turn on. I tried shutting off the car and then turning it back on but still nothing. would this be a fuse issue or something more serious? There are no unusual sounds coming from the engine compartment.
