ok guys my wife has a fusion 1.4 when it hit 90k i told her to have the cam belt changed and clutch as it started slipping later the mot failed on cat so i paid out to get a new cat and exhaust front to back after it had a slight miss when idle so had them check the sparks and found it was flooded with a oil leak on the rocker gasket i had that replaced then 3 weeks later notice the oil had gone down from max to min :-( i take it back and tell them its still leaking after the new gasket the guy that fitted it looks then tells me he has checked the work and no leaks on the rocker gasket so must be coming from the sump and to keep a eye on the oil untill monday and he will find the leak well as i was in a panic thinking my wife had damaged her oil pan on a speed bump or something i got her to ask a garage next to her work today to check for the cause of the leak and they say the sump is fine and the sparks "ARE" flooded again due to rocker gasket she saw this with her own eyes so pissed off she darts back to the garage and tells the guy shes seen the leak is still there from the last repair on the rocker gasket but all he wanted to know was the name of the garage that told her he fitted it bad and wont look at it untill monday i have a feeling monday they will try and screw her over so can anyone give her some advice on what to look out for i only know the basics and cant even go with her due to work i have checked the sump and the leak it to high to be the the sump or seal its driping down from the cam belt side...

This really shouldn't be all that confusing. If you pull a spark plug wire off and there is oil on it, the valve cover is still leaking. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

thanks so if they start telling her the leak is from the cam cover gasket or even the head gasket they are talking rubbish? thats the only thing i can think of that they might try or that the cover is out of shape.. like i said i only know the basics or i would do it myself

Rocker cover, valve cover, cam cover,......... they are all the same thing. The spark plug tube seals are part of the valve cover gasket and if they are leaking, they screwed something up. We don't have that engine here in the US so i don't have any pictures of it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

thanks i think the reason the cat failed the mot to begin with was due to the rocker cover leak and now its been 2 months since the new cat was fitted they really need to sort this out before it screws up the new cat i guess it might even screw up the new cam belt if its leaking there to so am i right in thinking the only other problem they could try and charge her extra for now would be if the rocker cover is out of shape and just wont seal correctly on the gasket?
