fuel pump replacement Sign In

2003 chevy 3500 express van(box truck)
6.0
125,000

I cut hole in floor of the back of the truck to gain access to the top of fuel tank. I am ready to change fuel pump. Just was wondering if there is any surprises I should worry about when doing this job or should it be pretty much straight foward?

Pretty straight forward. Be sure the rubber gasket that goesona the pump stays in place when you install the new pump. You will see what I mean when you pull the old one out. You may need to attach a new pigtail plug to the van. Some new pumps come with an updated plug that is less prone to self destruction, but it will depend on the brand you buy. I wish my customers would let me cut the access holes for this job, sure be easier. Good Luck
