I wanted to charge my phone off my sisters car cigarette lighter because I have lost my wall charger, She said no because leaving the ignition on without the car going will burn out her coil.
Now I know nothing about cars but I do know they would not invent a charger that is going to wreck cars.
Please help me out so I can shove this info in her face and charge my stupid cell phone!!
Thankyou SmileSmile

You'd better back off on giving her a hard time about that. It's certainly not a good idea to leave the key on to charge a phone. Most cars are wired so the key is not required to be on for the cigarette lighter to be powered but if her car requires that, then you need to find another way to charge your phone. It won't necessarily harm her coil but it will kill her battery is short order and it's not good for the electronics.
