When I was done I stepped on the pedal to center the shoes, as I have always done with all my other vehicles when I did a brake job. After one or two pumps the pedal went to the floor and I was unable to get a good pedal. I figured the master cylinder failed so I bought a remanufactured one and installed it. I still have the same problem in that the pedal goes to the floor and won't pump up to a good pedal in order to bleed the brakes. If you are using a helper to pump the brake for bleeding are they holding the pedal down till you tighten up the bleeder? If not it'll just suck air back in. Sometimes the check valve on the front needs to be reset (by pushing back in). It has a little black rubber boot around it.
