mitsubishi mirage.. is it worth fixing? Sign In

i have a '96 mitsubishi mirage, with about 70,000 miles. when i first bought the car a few months ago, the man i bought it from said it was in perfect shape, and explained what work he had done in the last few months. i thought it was a pretty good deal, and needed a car so i bought it. two weeks later, it started dripping oil and the check engine light came on. turns out it needs a new head gasket, timing belt, and a few other parts, and a new map sensor to make the engine light turn off. the local mitsubishi dealer quoted me $1500 for everything, and another mechanic quoted about the same. its starting to run/leak pretty bad now, and stalls once in a while. should i not even bother, and just look for a different car?

thank you!! :)
