I've just had my engine rebuild on my Movano van 2.2 diesel, the problem now is they cant get it o run by the key , they need to spray a light oil down the inlet valve to get it to tick over, any suggestion would be of great help as this van has cost me a small fortune, there saying it could be the high pressure fuel pump?

interesting, never heard of a "movano". but, then diesel is the same the world over. are you saying they have to spray the oil to get it to start? and if it starts does it continue to run? the high pressure fuel pump i would guess to be the injector pump. if it will start and remain running if only for a minute or so, then the injector pump is doing it's job. is the fuel getting to the injector pump? most all diesels have a "lift" or low pressure pump the delivers fuel to the injector pump. if fuel is not reaching the injector pump it will not start or remain running. the "lift" pump can be either mechanical or electric. if mechanical it will be located on the side of the engine. if electrical it will be anywhere from near the injector pump to inside the fuel tank. a really weird possibility would be that the rings have been installed wrong...with all the gaps lined up-i have seen this happen even with the "pros". So, i'll need to know if the engine remains running or not after spraying the oil in. or does it even start at all? let me know, rick
