mixed oil Sign In

i accidently mixed 3 qts of 5/30 with 2 qts of 5/20 oil. will this cause any problems?

I don’t think you have to panic about this but it wouldn’t hurt to change it again just to be on the safe side. If this is a newer vehicle that calls for 5W20 and if something happens to the engine you may void warranty with the wrong grade of oil in the engine.

Concurring with Dan that it is probably not a problem. Oil is graded on the container and should say it meets API standards for new cars. If not just dump the oil and put in what is suggested. The exact viscosity should be less of a problem than the grade of the oil, T
