Anyone ever replace the NSS in a 2002 chevy trailblazer? Looks like the drive shaft will have to be moved to get at it.

Have fun getting the electrical connectors off it if they are stuck on...<snickers> Also, don't be surprised if the grommet inside the shifter cable comes apart, which means you need to install another cable. can not get the nss on the drive shaft it in the way need about a 1/4 of inch more room. I unbolt the 4 bolts on the dirve shaft in front by u joints but nothing moved.

took a heat gun and warmed up the connector the four pin connector can off easy the 7 pin took some time. Couldn't get the nss off the shaft it broke and then I couldn't get the piece off the shaft. then the other one with not go on. Have to move the drive shaft. gave up for the day it's getting cold.

I don't know how you people do it in the North. They'd find me stuck under the truck with my tongue frozen to the drive shaft..haha Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Unbolt the front drive shaft from the front end. Then just swing it out of your way. Don't try pulling it from the transfer case. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Have any pictures of the trans in neutral. Didn't read the instruction had it in park. It said to put it in neutral, so i'm not sure it's in neutral. But the part did just slide on and lines up with the bolt holes after moving the shaft to where the flat sides are facing front and back ( l l like this) So can't move the shift lever it's lock in park with the NSS removed. Must have to have power to get it out of park. Have new part on but not the 2 plugs. Dam it's cold here maybe get it done this weekend when it get's in the 20's

If you can weigh down tarps to the ground around the truck and get an electric space heater under the truck, it will get a lot nicer to work under it within 20 or 30 minutes. Shovel snow up against the tarps to act as insulation. I'm so glad I built a new garage last year.

still at it, the plugs will not go all the way in. Any suggestion? Maybe heat it up will that work?

Not sure what you mean. Do the connectors fit at all or just won't push in enough to latch? Are the connector terminals or seals plugged up with that glue gunk? If the connectors are all gunked up, you'll have to clean that stuff off. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

will not seat all the way in to put key lock in, can see some of the rubber gasket. and on the backup plug can't get it lock on the numb on the NSS. The dealer could not get these on either the old on it was the same way not all the way in and water got inside and the connectors where green. There seem to be nothing in the connectors I can put a piece of metal the same size as the connector prongs and it will slide in just as far. So maybe the part has to much glue in it that it will not seat. That why I ask if maybe I should heat it to make it seat on.

There shouldn't be any glue inside the connector cavity of the NSS. The problem they had was the gunk that they used inside the switch would get hot and melt. Then it would leak into the connector cavity making it near impossible to get the connectors off. Is this a dealer NSS, aftermarket NSS, or used one? One thing about aftermarket parts is that they don't always fit sometimes. They could of used too much potting material to seal the pins in the connector cavity which is causing your connector(s) to not seat properly. Now AC Delco are parts that dealers play with. Any many part houses sell AC Delco stuff. You may be able to find a Delco switch that should fit just as the factory original. That way you don't have to burn up stuff with your heat gun and cause damage. Plus you don't have to go through all this other crap trying to get something to fit together because of improperly engineered aftermarket stuff. AC Delco number is D2263C. You can see that the material used in the connector it vastly different than what they use in the other aftermarket switches.
