Re: no spark Sign In

Hmmm? 76 should have used a fender or firewall mounted spark computer thing. I recall they had color coded plug connectors and were responsible for many no spark problems back then. I don't know how to test one though?? If that sounds like a possiblility let me know. They may be getting hard to find and I may have a used one known to be good that you could have if you cover shipping it. Must be the same color - I know that,

Re: no spark Sign In

Again I can't recall how those were tested. I never did but had a couple known good ones to just plug in and go by that.

If it's believed good then see if you get a blinking of a test light on the coil neg. If not pulse there it could be in the distributor and absolutely none ever failed on me on millions of miles in lots of different Fords that vintage but who knows?

Re: no spark Sign In

They would but should blink on neg while cranking the engine or there is not pulse like points would do that electronic ignition does without points. I think that thing (whatever it's called) is bad even though tested good. They used to call it a computer but it's more of an ign module and huge compared to newer ones,

Re: no spark Sign In

it's your timing
your distributor is probably 180 off.you need to re-time it. if it's off time, it'll just turn over, and turn over, and you still wont hear a spark. also, check to make sure you can smell gas on your spark plugs, could be your fuel pump/carb if you don't
