Re: oil light came on engine stalled Sign In

There should be two oil warnings, one amber to say check oil level and the other red to warn oil pressure is too low. Which one came on while driving and what color?

How long did you drive it with the light illuminated?

Next: When it failed to start did engine turn at all or just a "clack" of starter trying or too slow to run?
More questions: Did you check engine oil level? Was it in the "safe" area?

Next if just a "click" can you turn the engine by the crankshaft bolt?

This if driven with oil pressure for even a short time it's possible to seize up the engine from allowing it to run with inadequate lubrication.

If so even if an OK oil level showed when checked it strongly suggests you'll need a new engine as that one probably did weld itself seized up beyond repair,

Are you positive the oil light didn't come on until the engine had already stalled?
