Hello, I have a parking brake issue on an 87 corvette. The handle will go up with usual force and the rear cables do seem to move and engage the parking brake, but the handle flops back to the ground. The brake remains engaged until the center button on the handle is pressed in, but why won't the handle stay in the upright position?

That is the way it's designed to work. Even though the handle is down, the brake is still applied. To release it you pull back up on the handle and when you relieve the pressure, the button will push in easily. You hold the button in and lower the handle to release the brake. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
