i am replacing a alternater on my 1998 honda accord. the head on the bolt that holds it in place is rounded off. it is about half way out and wont turn in or out. what can i do. chanal locks wont work. please help

Use a locking pliers(vise grip)! wouldn't hurt to spray some penetrating oil on it! then get a new bolt!

To add:

If not too totally round try a socket you could do without tha's 1mm smaller then hammer it on the hex and work back toward tighten and back and forth. They do make special tools for that but it will cost something. Whatever works is fine but just don't break it!!!!!!! Could cause major use of bad language make tools projectiles which no doubt will hit something really expensive.Pirate T
