2007 Pontiac G6 GT 3.9 L engine 27000 mi okay, so here's the deal, i am getting some major noise from the rear end of my car. When I hit a bump it makes a sound and when I partially hit the brakes it makes the same sound. the noise goes away when I completely press the breaks and when i completely release the breaks. It almost sounds like jungle drums. The Rotars were recently looked at by my mechanic, the break pads replaced, and it just started making this noise. it does not sound like anything to do with the breakpads themselves. Could the calipurs be loose, loose bearing, etc? Adrienne

If that mechanic determined that it was OK to simply slap pads and not do anything to the rotors, then i would try a different mechanic. It's never OK to ignore the rotors. They always need a fresh, flat surface for the pads/shoes to ride on or this is the result. I would have the rotors resurfaced (if thick enough) and depending how long the pads have been on there with the old rotors, you may have to change them again also. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
