If the differential in your Camaro is still the original it likely has a 10 bolt 8.5” carrier that came in posi or semi trac; which makes the actual change over easy, both carriers fit the same diff housing. They were used in Camaro & Firebird from 1971 to 1981 the Z Camaro and the TA firebirds came with a posi. A lot of Caprice and Impala’s had this size of diff and if it came with a tow package it would likely have had a posi. If you would go to sites like Richmond Gear they have a ton of useful information and a complete listing of gears and carriers. My son was lucky to find a used posi in good condition for his 79 Firebird at a swop meet a couple of years ago. Good used units are getting hard to find any more; but the aftermarket people have them as long as you have the cash. Dan. Canadian "EH"
