question about lease maintence

Can someone tell me honestly how important is maintenance on a leased car? What happens if I don't do it? I would prefer not to sink another few hundred dollars into the lease if I don't have to. Does not doing maintenance void my warranty? Do they look at the maintenance history when I return the car? Help is appreciated.

Maintenance should be treated the same whether your leasing or buying. Yes you’ll void warranty; yes you may damage the vehicle without doing maintenance. Without having maintenance performed you might end up driving an unsafe vehicle and have no idea that it is. All depending on what vehicle it is but it’s not unusual to see brakes, steering components and suspension items be worn out or broken all within the vehicles first 20 or 30 thousand miles. Read your lease contract over carefully; it likely states that the vehicle must be in resalable condition when it’s turn back in. Here in Ontario that means an emissions test and the vehicle must meet the Ministry of Transportation’s minimum safety requirements. Dan. Canadian "EH"
