I am replacing the front rotors on a chevy equinox. How hard of a job is this?

I don't know this vehicle specifically but most are fairly straight forward. When caliper is removed most cars now use a bracket that holds the caliper that has to be removed from the back side with bolts. Rotor should just come right off or if rusty make take a tap with a rubber hammer to jar it loose. Clean up any corrosion on the hub so new one will fit on true.

If you see a nut (perhaps phillips) onhub of rotor it's to be removed first. Some will have two threaded holes that just using the correct size bolt tightened into the hole removes the rotor. Most cars are getting away from some of that but look,

you were absolutely right. it came off without a hitch. piece of cake. i did have to do some pretty heavy banging thought to get it loose.
