ford Freestar van 2007, 6 cylinders., 3.9 engine., 142 k miles. just got it from a dealer 3 weeks ago. this is the problem : whenever I push the brake van start shaking and I can feel it on the pedal really bad , 2 mecanics told me I need to change rotor and brake pads. but nobody answer me, why is shaking while I drive and get worse after I pass 40 miles and up ( while no using brakes ) ?. tires look even and in good shape, so what is the first step ? check tires balance ? alignment ? thanks for any help.

Shaking when not braking is a tire problem. Shaking when applying the brakes is a brake rotor problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

pads and rotors for sure but would also make shore that the calipers slide free on the slides if they are holding or binding they could be causing the shake at the higher speed but more likely tiers are the higher speed cause and would bet on it if the car sat for any amount of time

I had an 92 olds cutlass that had dual pistons in the brake caliper and it it shook when braking ,I don't know if yours does but replacing the calipers took care of the problem.Look for any worn front end component.

Pulsation when braking is a rotor problem, not a caliper problem.
