skoda locking wheel nut lost- HELP!

My mums tyre on her Skoda Superb '03 plate blew today - in the process of taking off the wheel we realised that the special nut remover was completely lost...the AA sad there was nothing that could be done without this nut (that is apprently a one off for each car) and that if not found the car would be a write off... I couldnt see how in this day and age there would be no way of removing this nut, so after much goggling I came across a product called a laser locking wheel nut remover...good and bad reviews about it, but does anyone know f it would work on a skoda. thanks.

Write the car off??????? They didn't really say that????? Did they????? No there are ways to remove the wheel locks......If you have enough room to work with, you can get a socket that is just a bit too small to fit on the head & pound it on with a hammer & use an impact gun to remove the lock..... You should be able to take it to any tire shop and they should be able to easily remove the lock for a small charge..... One word of advise.....I would remove all the locks and go with just regular bolts/nuts....... IMO wheel locks are a waste of time....If a thief really wants those wheels or tires, they will be able remove those locks with no trouble....Wheel locks only present a problem for the owner when the key goes missing, it will strand the owner on the side of the road & cost them money to deal with the situation...... Unless you live in a very rough part of town.......lose the locks.....

Thank-you. Yes the lock nuts will be going (are still the orignal ones that came with car - and not had a problem until now). Yes I am pretty convinced that whoever recovered my mother was speaking rubbish after now reading many ways to get them removed... apparently the tyre garage the car was taken to agreed with the AA but m sure this isnt correct.

If the locking lug nuts came with the car when it was built, the dealer might be able to get you a replacement key. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Ditto: They sell kits everywhere that will defeat those faster than you can remove them with a lug wrench. As Sid said, dump those for a set that are regular - typically just one per wheel. If short of places right now and have some especially impact sockets just hammer one on tight over the ones there with a selection of sockets one will grab enough. If some other style than I'm thinking there's still an easy way with the right tools to get them off, T

Thanks everyone, after your comments backing up what I have read I am prepared to take my argument (and toll kit) to the garage tomorrow and get them to get the bugger off or push the car outside onto the pavement and I will do it (maybe flag down a strong bloke!!) A new key can be ordered from the dealership but they said it could take up to two weeks and living a very rural environment and only having one car were are very desperate to get this resolved quickly.

If the shop doesn't want to do it.....Don't try to force them to do it.......Either they don't want to do the job or aren't equipped to do the job....either way your wheels will probably wind up getting damaged.... Call around and find a shop that can do the job for you.....You may have to pay another tow bill......but trust me on this....it will be money well spent......

Sometimes the dealer may have a master set of keys that the techs use. They may be able to get the lug nuts off without damaging the wheel. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
