I just bought a ford Tempo that has been made into a stock car. It has been painted and has sheet metal covering a lot of it. How do I figure out what year it is so I can order parts? No papers, title etc came with it and the guy I bought it from does not know

As far as I know there are only two places that Ford put the VIN number. One on a decal on the end of the driver’s door and the other on a plate riveted to the left side (drivers) of the dash. You would normally see the plate looking through the windshield from the outside. If you can find the VIN number the 10th digit is the year code; A-1980, B-1981, C-1982 and so on. The letters I and O are shipped because they could be confused easily for numbers for example M-1991, N-1992, P-1993. They didn’t make all that may different models of Tempos so if you’re within a year or so the parts will likely fit and work. Dan. Canadian "EH"

Ford and others hide the VIN on lots of parts, and you might find one on a known original part like fenders, inside trunk lid, and I think seats and door panels inside or under the seat. You might want to find a couple that match if it's really altered, T

I found one place that has G-90IA. Or it could be G-901A. followed by the Ford symbol. Does that mean anything

NO - it would be a long #with both letters and #'s. I should know ---- just looked and found 17 digits on two cars of my own and I think that's a standard for many years now, T
