98 dodge Durango 160,000 5.9 ltr ok here we go with another problem, when I got the truck it had31x10.50.15 in mud tires on it I got 2 new tires for the front, now when I back up, turning the wheels to the right, the front left tire hits/rubs on the wheel well, there is no problem with the front passenger tire doing this but the driver's side hits/rubs on the wheel well, but only when the wheels get turned to the right, any ideas ? thanks......Dennis from milwaukee

2 or 4wd? Any modifications to the stock steering and suspension system? Have you inspected the steering linkage and components for looseness or worn parts? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Any alterations as DS just said? What tire size is suggested for this truck on door jam? Sorry the one you listed doesn't mean much to me just that it suggests a 15" rim and that it rubs is a wild balloon type traction tire. First I don't approve of changing tire or wheels sizes for most vehicles. If specific purposes needed for a truck that would be or should be the choice vehicle type for changes BUT if mostly on-road use I'd probably want two sets of wheels and tires. They are rubbing so it isn't right. Too big for the wheel well no doubt while new. Just curious, are these the same brand that you replaced? Actual size does vary some except for the rim size. Rim "dishing" may be a factor too. Don't ask but old phart here. Was once popular to put wheels on backwards (don't ever) or where sold as way back called "Chrome Reverse" and stuck out and tore themselves up of course T

SAME BRAND? As already said some are a bit different and certainly new has more rubber than used or worn ones. If all else was fine, without regard to whether this size tire belongs on this truck at all, before it strongly suggests that something went wrong in just changing them out. Need answers....... 1. Same brand tires? 2. Same wheels all around on this? 3. Anything go wrong just taking wheels off like they were stuck or something and beat the heck out of them to remove or something out of ordinary? Tom

You have to know that truck didn't come with that size and whoever put them on knew they were pushing the clearance limits. That side of the truck probably has a little more caster than the other side causing the tire to rub. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
