So I put a salvage motor on a 2000 grand am, ran great. Then, my bro overfilled the oil (way), and it smoked going up hill. he drained out the excess oil and it ran fine, then and now it runs, barely, but no smoke. total miles with overfilled oil was about 50 miles. Is this a sensor etc. type problem, or was major damage done to the engine? Thanks

Do you mean now it runs ok now and then (intermittently)?? An overfill that caused any problems is bad. If it didn't kill it you are lucky on that one. It may have plugged up cat converters with too much for them to handle, T

It now runs bad, but does not smoke. It chugs like it's running on 2 1/2 cylinders out of 4. Thanks for replying. Matt

Damn I'd do a compression check. Look at each spark plug and compare them, T
