Crystal ball is broken again! You'll actually have to state a make, model and engine, T

Hmmm? I strongly suggest getting a pressure reading directly off the engine for oil pressure. The ticking might just be low oil pressure and really shouldn't be run at all that way. I think oil pressure is sensed at rear center near firewall and may be a plug issue but the noise concerns me especially with a gauge issue ongoing too. Alone - the gasket repair on these shouldn't have much to do with oil pressure. Have you run this by the place that did the work? Anything plain loose that you can see while watching? T

For what ever reason low oil pressure is a VERY serious problem and NO oil pressure is a sure disaster. Don't even drive this with an oil pressure issue at hand like this. For that matter don't even run it except when hooked up for a test. YOU should just measure your oil level yourself and if found "off the stick low" - suggest that to the shop - fill to proper level and find out how and why that could have happened. If seriously low on oil just filling it may solve the up front issue but bring that up with the shop first! T

Were you getting coolant/water in the oil prior to having the gasket replaced? Loren SW Washington

Well, this is beginning to sound a little fishy. You might want to consider getting a second opinion. Check the oil and make sure you aren't getting coolant in there. It'll look like a chocolate milkshake if there is. If it does, don't drive it anymore. I can understand the vacuum leak at the EGR and, even, the intake manifold (although not common on that engine). Hmmmm. Loren SW Washington

I took it to a dealer and they sayd that having that repair had nothing to do with it but they said it must have been coincidence and told me it would be 1500 to fix the oil pump but recomenced me to get a new engin for 5500 but i took it to a speed shop and they are going to rebuild it for 1300 so i just really cant understand how they could have happend i guess i have bad luck

Did you check the oil? Was any evidence of coolant in the oil? Has the shop verified that your loss of oil pressure is, for sure, the oil pump? This is very rare, but it is possible. Are they charging you $1300.00 for replacing the oil pump? Coincidence? Yes, it's possible. Stuff happens. But, let's be sure. Loren SW Washington

They are going to rebuild my engine. The dealer said that i had enough oil and that they did oil pressure test and said that is what it was. what else could they have done when replacin upper and the erg gasket?

The only thing that could affect oil pressure (that I can think of, right now) during the intake repair would be if enough gasket material got into the engine to plug the oil pump pickup screen (which is very unlikely), or a gasket failure (which should be obvious). An engine rebuild for $1300.00? The parts, alone, would cost nearly that much. I think it may be time for a second or third opinion? Loren SW Washington

I would get a 2-3 op 2 or you could just replace the oilpump that would be much cheeper and just as good if the moter ran good
