I have a 2002 Pontiac grand am. In the morning when you first start up, it stalls, the rpm meter goes crazy and the speedometer does not work. It will only go about 30 mph for about 1 mile. Then it like shifts into gear and does fine. I have had in three different repair shops and no one can pinpoint the problem. My daughter drives this car 3 hours away from home to college so I need to get this repaired asap. Thanks,

What you are describing to me sounds like the trans speed sensor....some have one, others have two a input and a output, most times the computer will detect these... and sometimes it won't...the only way to be sure is to remove them and check the resistance in the leads while turning the cog-wheel.
