window off track??

2007 pontiac grand am - 30,000 miles - my rear passenger window made noise today when putting up - forgot about it put it down a lil later half way- got home went to put wont go - tried pulling on while using rear button, nothing accidently pushed all the way down, thinking...duh now it wont go up, i dont think its the switch or motor it was working , just made a noise - off track possibly - can i open up interior panel some way to expose window?? its about to rain1 thanks any help greatly appreciated

It's probably a bad regulator and replacing it is the only way the window is going up.

even if it was working, and window made a funny noise going up?
there is no way to pull up?
i read something about taking door handle off & then...

Not totally sure what's wrong here. Most repair would be whole regulator as Hammer Time said. If stuck down but making noise it could still be messed up beyond real fix. Perhaps for temp fix if stuck down take door panel off so it can be seen and sometimes is glass is loose can hold it up with a piece of wood placed just so till fixed properly. Unplug wiring to regulator if so or must do something.
Not sure what you are experiencing so that's just a wild guess,

thank you - i was married to a mechanic for 20 years, was the first woman to take autoshop in my hs, worked in auto bodya - do my own basic stuff on car & motorcycle - so im totally blind here - i just know its not the motor - motor is working making the soft humming noise, i think its off track? im older so do windows still have tracks?? it got stuck half way up was making some weird clunk noise, like off track or something fell down there - which would be rare, but idi have a kid in car earlier...then i stupidly played with it and pushed all the way down, hoping then would come up - dummy what was i thinking! i need a temp fix no $4 right now!!

The regulator on about all of this vintage the motor can keep working. The lift can be wire and pullies with cheap nylon rollers many just one so if that's off track or broken you are screwed to get a regulator and suggest get one with motor on it if optional.
Many are riveted in place and about impossible if the larger (should know what size they call them) ones common rivets will not do and faking it with assorted nuts and bolts probably wont work as it need the room rivets do not take up.
You'll see this with the door panel off and run it then the problem should show itself clear as day but funky thru limited view thru holes in metal for access under a plastic moisture wrapper which you should take care and put back on in place,

Didn't they stop production of the Grand Am in 2005?
Temp fix would be to: (1) tape plastic over the hole. (2)remove the door panel and push the glass up. Then use a hose clamp around the center of the track to hold the window sash up. (3) Pull the window up and wedge rubber hose between the glass and belt molding. Your pick.

It depends on just how it failed. If that regulator cable got jammed up, then not much of anything will let that window move.

OK - you need cheap to free to just get window up for now. YOU have to look with door panel OFF to know that the problem really is then what you can do of many suggestions already.
Refresh: Regulator likely for this one. Cable like many garage door lines is tough and if needed to cut will take a good cutting tool if all in bird's nest in there. If plastic should cut OK. It whatever is tight be careful of it going spastic unraveling more on your hands!
Unplug motor inside door just because I said so
Object is keep rain out AND be able to see out so the tape and plastic trick isn't such a good idea unless parked only.
Whatever tricks just know glass is tempered and if you use pliers (vise grip type something) on glass itself it is easy to bust whole window glass. Good luck,

If you can't get the window up because the cables are all tangled up, you can cut the cables with a pair of diagonal cutters to free the glass.

i know its been awhile but i just realized i never replied and yall ask for that , & thats the least i can do - my son took car to get fixed temp- the guy said it was the relay, he got window in up and stuck a piece of wood in there , benn working for however long its been...; )
