Hello everyone. I currently own a 1998 Ford Escort. One day while riding around town the A/C just stoped cooling. It was working the whole day and just stopped. I do remember one day when I turned the A/C on that it didn't start. I had to turn the knob back off and back on slowly and it then started. I took the car to the mechanic whose done work to my car before. I was there when he checked everything he could think of under the hood. He did hook up and see how much freon was in the system. He said it had plenty. I saw the guage myself and the gauge needle was all the way up. He then checked fuses for power and everything checked out. He mentioned also maybe some wiring had gone bad. And he would need a wiring diagram for the car to check the wires. I have no idea where to get such diagram. If anyone has anything on why my A/C stopped working let me know.

If power 12V makes it to the clutch (electrical check should have shown) then the clutch gap may be too large and it can't engage compressor. It outer plate to clutch is still give it a tap -- if it kicks on that should be it, T
