Year of vehicle:1999
Make of vehicle (Toyota)
Model of vehicle ( Rav4)
Engine size (2.0)
Mileage/Kilometers 200k km

My rav4 ac is not cooling at all and the compressor gets very hot then suddenly trips giving a blinking light on the a/c button. the following information may clear the picture for you:[/000000]

1) low side pressure is around 50 and high side is around 100 (PSI)
2) condenser dose not get as hot as it was when the system was cooling
3) dryer glass show some transparent liquid moving
5) continuous hissing sound from evaporator area
6) compressor gets engaged for a while but trips (gets very hot)

Sounds like you have a wasted compressor. You would also have to change the condenser along with it because that's where all the debris went. Possible expansion valve too.

There is a speed sensor on the compressor that monitors the speed of the crankshaft inside the compressor. If the AC amplifier detects no speed signal from the compressor when it commands the clutch on, the AC light will blink.

It could be an electrical problem with the clutch circuit or a mechanical problem inside the compressor. What do you mean compressor is getting hot?

That compressor is wasted.

I would say so too with those numbers, but I was wondering why the amplifier was detected no compressor crank speed? Compressor locking up?

Yes, he already stated it was overheating so chances are the clutch was slipping and the RPM sensor was picking up on that.

No, that's not how you repair AC.

You have to do the entire job all at once which will include a new condenser and receiver dryer which on your car may be combined as one part and then flush the rest of the system with special solvent.

You may also have to change the expansion valve is any debris made it that far. Once those repairs are done, then you have to look for the cause of the compressor failure in the first place which may have been caused by issues with the cooling fan.

If you don't replace the condenser and do it right, you will likely ruin the new compressor and start a cycle that will keep making the problem even worse and more costly.
