Hi guys,
So money is kind of tight these days and I'm trying to fix an A/C issue on an older 2001 Pontiac Sunfire myself before taking it in to a professional if possible.
So my issue is, I keep blowing my 10 Amp Mini Fuse to the A/C for some reason. I have done some troubleshooting and have found that, if I start the car and leave it in idle, both with the A/C off then turning in on after start and again with the A/C already on when starting up the car, everything runs ok, I don't blow the fuse. I can sit in Park and rev the engine as well without blowing the fuse. The problem seems to come once I put the car in gear and drive a very short distance. One test I did, I reversed to the end of the driveway maybe 10 feet or so, then put in back in drive and pulled back forward 10 feet. This test blew the fuse. My uneducated automotive conclusion so far is, I have a possible short to ground somewhere that makes intermittent contact via movement or a loose connector, or the increased load on the clutch and or compressor may be causing this? I'm not very automotive mechanically inclined but do have a bit of knowledge in other types of mechanical systems. Any ideas on where else I can look or ways I could further troubleshoot my issue to further narrow down my problem would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time!

The only things that fuse powers is the compressor clutch by way of the relay. I would try unplugging the compressor and see if the fuse still blows.

Definitely inspect the engine harness and ac clutch wiring harness for chaffing on metal. Repair and reroute any chaffed wiring. I think your on the right track.
