UnsureSomeone please help i need a diagram and instructions on how to remove and replace an evaporator for my 98 jeep grand cherokee 4.0. I have been without air for almost 2 years and i can't stand it anymore. I have had the system leak checked and from what i was told is that the evaporator will need to be replaced. Also if i replace it what else should i replace while i have it all out. THANKS!!!!!!!

This is detailed in full but not in my posession. AllData.com for $25 bucks would be worth it for you. This is an involved job and more than just that leaking evap will need tending to to get up and going properly.

This will show you what is involved when you are ready just to charge up the system:

Know that with the system down for so long oil has not been there to protect the compressor and while it was leaking if slow it may have wrecked it. The dissicant in the dryer has absorbed all the moisture it can now an must be replaced.

I understand you can view the AllData master program at libraries. For the effort of this job the $25 to have it at place where you work on this will seems like peanuts.

Good luck. This would be a 2-3 thousand dollar problem if just dropped off for an auto A/C specialty shop to do for you. Ask locally as that might be less. Labor rates where I live are around $100 and this is labor intensive,

T
