I have a 2003 Nissan Frontier SE V6 with 194K miles. Question, can putting to much freon in the A/C cause the compressor to fail or bust?

Capitol YES! Exact amount only and that can only really be known when filled from known empty into a state of well held vacuum. Overcharged can return liquid to be compressed, lock compressor solid trying or just choke on too much, damage varies from little to disaster throwing junk thru a whole system! Did I scare you enough? T

A/C is a lousy place to try to save a buck without tons of know how, equipment and knowing how to use it. Just for the basics which is a book look at this link from this site on what it takes to charge a known good system and you get the idea....... http://autoforums.carjunky.com/..._A/C_SYSTEMS_P45460/ That could be a mile longer than it is too! Good luck, Tom
