AC compressor not engaging

I have a 2001 Mercury Cougar which overheated and froze the engine. We have just had it repaired (top & bottom w/ new valve seats) and it is now running great. The ac is not working, so I charged the system and the compressor is still not engaging. Any thoughts on what to check next? Would the engine overheating have caused additional damage to the compressor or other ac system parts? Thanks!

Did you have the ac system opened up when you did the engine work? Did you do a visual inspection and made sure the compressor connector is plugged in and all the harnesses are properly routed and connected? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I didn't ask for the ac system to be openned, so I don't know. Could you tell me how and what to look for on the compressor connector and harnesses? Thanks!

Did you have a repair shop do this? If so, you should take the vehicle back and explain that the ac system doesn't function and it did before the repair. They could have left something disconnected.
