Ac recharging question

Hello all. I'm definitely not a mechanic and I've been having a lot of problems with my AC lately. I have a 2010 Honda Odyssey and recently had the AC compressor replaced.
Over the last few weeks it started blowing out warm air but would eventually started to blow out cold air again. Over the last couple days it's only blowing out hot air.
I bought some A/C Pro recharging Freon. It's in the can that comes with a gauge.
When I turn on the car with the AC at full blast, coldest setting, and then connect the gauge, the low pressure is well over 100 PSI.
I did not put any freon in it. Before I do that I want to make sure I understand everything correctly.
From all my reading this is what I think I understand. I need verification.
If the compressor is on, and the low pressure PSI is well over a hundred psi, then I got serious problems and I need to take it in.
But, if I had a leak and have very little freon in the system, then the compressor will not come on. If the compressor will not come on, then the low pressure will read that high naturally. In that case it does need some Freon even though the low pressure is reading high.
So what I really need to determine is if the compressor is coming on or not. If it is coming on and the pressure is that high, I need to take it to the shop. If the compressor is not coming on, I need to add 134a.
Do I have that correct?

You really need to back away and get this to an AC specialist. AC diagnosis and repair is just not DIY friendly. It requires far too much experience to recognize issues and understand refrigeration.
Those kits you buy for DIY AC repair are known as "Death kits" in the industry.
The system requires a very specific weight of charge and either too little or too much will do extreme damage.
You can easily do far more damage to your system than is already there. If your compressor job was done incompletely, then that ruins all the parts you put in and probably more.
At this point it appears you can't even tell if the compressor is engaged or not.

Well, I give you credit for stopping and not try to "force" some refrigerant in the system... good decision
You say that eventually it does blow cold...If it's as cold as it normally is them more than likely the "charge" in the system is ok and you are looking at an intermittent electrical problem...
If you are familiar with the clutch, when the engine is running you will see the pulley spinning but the end plate won't be moving....When the a/c is engaged...everything on the clutch assembly should be spinning....
100 to 130 psi is about the right static charge for both sides when the system is off.....
In a nutshell.....sounds like you have an electrical problem.....
