I have a 2007 Chevy Colorado (5 cylinder, 3.7 liter) . Recently, the HVAC system has started putting out only hot air. After the vehicle has warmed up, the temperature of the heater (and AC) can’t be regulated. It’s either full hot or off. I don’t think it is a problem with the engine cooling system (thermostat, hose blockage, etc.) because the engine does not overheat during driving or idling. I’ve purchased a maintenance manual, but there are no examples of this condition in the trouble shooting section. Does anyone have any suggestions before I start taking it apart?

The temperature is controlled by the use of an air mix door that is operated by an electric motor/actuator. This door can be jammed or the actuator can be inoperative or have stripped plastic gears internally.

Thanks. Is there any chance that you could reply with a exploded view which includes these suspected components?

Upon further inspection it appears this one uses a cable instead of an actuator.

The cable anchors at #4 and the operating lever is #5
