Clutch shim removal Sign In

Can someone tell me why I'm having no luck getting these clutch shims to slide off the shaft? I've tried everything and they won't come. I've done this before with no issues, but is there a trick I'm missing here? This drove me crazy for an hour. Thanks for any help.

Do you mean the C clips? Are you using snap ring pliers?

No it's the shims that slide over the shaft that control the clutch gap. I have too much and I'm trying to remove a shim to tighten it up.

? Been a while - usually tiny shims loose. Pull out with a magnet till you reduce gap to spec. If not that type remove clutch (usually takes the tool) then shims or it's stuck hard where you leave it,
